Nietzsche

Course correction for western philosophy

Nietzsche was a preeminent western philosopher who was the first true maverick of philosophy. He challenged the deep rooted philosophical beliefs well entrenched in western morality and openly ridiculed their implications. His magnum opus introduced us to a completely novel theory of morality. That of a unique moral plane of an individual. In connecting an individual to his own moral plane, Nietzsche actually came very close to some of the established religions which were trying to remove the middleman between the creator and his creation. This graph explores his philosophies and their connections to other worlds religions and philosophies. We see that the the central node is connected to another dense set of nodes with the parent of stoicism. This is interesting, and shows that although the two philosophies have very different origins, they share the common elements of using fate as a compass for defining the plane of existence, and finding contentment in the plane.

Explore the graph by clicking on any of the nodes and traversing to other nodes by clicking them. Also remove extraneous connections by clicking on different color nodes in the legend. Going from left to right will eliminate nodes that are least extensively connected to most extensively connected.
